Phillies: Painter is showing the ball later

Astros: Wesneski has moved beyond the rehab-stage starts
The Astros are protecting a narrow AL West lead after consecutive close losses to Arizona. Their rotation supplied competitive work in those games, but the lineup could not create enough separation.
Hayden Wesneski is listed opposite Painter, also with five full days of rest. He carried a one-hit shutout deep into his previous outing and has progressed beyond abbreviated starts since returning from Tommy John surgery.
Houston’s primary danger still runs through Alvarez, especially if Painter leaves an elevated fastball over the plate. Opponents have increasingly worked above the zone and expanded away against him, placing more responsibility on Peña, Jose Altuve, Isaac Paredes and Christian Walker.
