Kyle Bradish is listed to start. His latest outing at Tampa Bay showed he could work through traffic without a full implosion, and his full mix was functioning in his July Camden Yards start.
Samuel Basallo returned to the lineup Wednesday at first base after a shoulder issue, adding another left-handed bat. Jackson Holliday, Gunnar Henderson, Colton Cowser and Dylan Beavers give the Orioles a left-leaning order that can attack Cole's four-seamer.
The clear concern is late relief. Félix Bautista remains out after shoulder surgery and Ryan Helsley is sidelined with elbow inflammation, according to mlb.com's injury report.
The Yankees' margin is thinner than it looks
New York holds the leading Wild Card position and is chasing Tampa Bay in the AL East. Cole is listed to pitch on five days' rest, one more than Bradish, and his recent form has been better than his record.
Cole was sharp in Toronto despite taking the loss, and his previous outing against Atlanta was strong. His elevated four-seam remains the foundation, with the slider and curveball separating behind it.
The lineup remains without Aaron Judge, Cody Bellinger and Giancarlo Stanton. According to mlb.com's Yankees injury report, Judge is only beginning a hitting progression, Bellinger is not expected in Baltimore, and Stanton has no return date.

The Yankees' missing power core changes the shape of their road offense. New York can sequence and put singles together, but a multi-run cushion at Camden is less likely without Judge, Stanton and Bellinger.
The Orioles' left-handed bats have a direct route to damage Cole: pull a fastball toward right field. Bradish at home is equipped to keep the game in reach with breaking-ball separation against a left-leaning order.
An Orioles bullpen lapse is the main risk, but that tends to create a one-run margin, not a road blowout. The total shape of the game — two quality starters, moderate temperature, light wind — also points to tight scoring.
The danger is a Cole shutdown and a short Bradish outing, made worse if the Orioles' bullpen usage from Wednesday forces another scramble.
